Bio
Laurel grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia and was involved in soccer, Irish dance, cheerleading, and track and cross country. She became interested in the field of physical therapy when she began cross country and saw her injured friends come back healed and running again with good words about their physical therapists. Laurel began her education at Auburn University where she ran for the track and cross country team during her freshman year. She obtained her bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science and went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of St. Augustine.
Her last clinical in her physical therapy program was at a PWR! Moves gym for Parkinson’s rehabilitation where she developed a love for treating those who have Parkinson’s Disease as well as patients with general gait and balance impairments. In the year or two after, Laurel also developed an interest and passion for vestibular therapy and the rehabilitation for dizzy patients. These special interests align with her constant love for treatment of the lower extremity such as hip, knee, ankle injuries after her many years participating in sports dealing with these types of injuries.
Right now, she is trained and certified in PWR! Moves, plans on adding to her current trainings for Vestibular rehabilitation, and is working on her dry needling certification. She has worked in the outpatient setting since beginning as a physical therapist and has loved the diversity of injuries treated and patients she has encountered.
When Laurel is not at work, she enjoys adventuring and spending time with her husband exploring different Atlanta restaurants and fun places around town. She loves running, travelling, antiquing, and hanging out with friends and family. Laurel’s faith is also important to her and she enjoys spending time at her church, Christ Covenant, and volunteering with the kids and welcome ministry. Since getting married in the spring of 2023, Laurel has loved adventuring and putting her home together with her husband and is slowly getting used to living with a Georgia Bulldog.
